I. INSTRUCTION

II. Game Proposal

I chose Little Nightmares II for my game proposal. Its art style leans towards dark fairy tale and surrealism, with low-saturation colors, exaggerated character designs, and oppressive environments that create a bizarre, dreamlike atmosphere.

B)  PDF SUBMISSION

IV. Project 2 - Asset Pack for Game
A)  Model / Material in Blender [Week8 - Week10]

I completed the modeling, texturing, and rendering of five assets over the past three weeks.
[Feedback] My professor suggested that I could add more details to the scene, such as damage or wear on the sofa to make it look more realistic. He also mentioned that the bed model I made was too low-poly and needed to be more complex to match the overall quality of the environment.

Asset 1 - Bed

Asset 2 - Little Night Bird

Asset 3 - Books

Asset 4 - Computer

Asset 5 - Desk & Lamp

Asset - Sofa

A.2)  PDF Submission

B)  Unity Engine Test

This week, I imported the scene I created into Unity for testing. I also used ChatGPT to help me write some simple scripts, so that the scene can be played and interacted with like a basic game environment.

[Feedback] Professor asked me to check the light setting cause the scene is too red. And my next step is to make a wall.

C)  Week 11

This week, I worked on building the wall in Blender. At the same time, I added some decorative elements to it, so that the wall wouldn't look too empty or plain.

[Feedback]My professor suggested that I should adjust or enlarge the wall material, because the pattern was too dense. From a distance, it caused a moire effect, which made the surface look visually noisy.

So I searched online for a brick material and used it to replace the original wall texture. After that, I imported the updated wall into Unity, and it looked much better.

Reflection

In this project, I worked on creating a 3D environment using Blender. While I was able to complete the basic modeling and layout, I realized that I still lack understanding in materials and rendering. Many of the textures I applied looked too flat or unnatural, and I often struggled to control roughness, bump, or other node settings properly.

Lighting and rendering were also difficult for me. I wasnt sure how to set up lights to create the atmosphere I wanted, and I didn’t fully understand the rendering settings.
